Additional new secondary production site already active

AIRPORT CITY, Israel – July 6, 2011 – SodaStream International Ltd. (NASDAQ: SODA), a leading manufacturer and distributor of home beverage carbonation systems, today announced that on Wednesday, July 6th, the Company will break ground on a new 850,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Israel.  The new primary site is expected to go live during 2013 at an approximate cost of €30 million.  This state-of-the-art facility will be the anchor project of a new industrial park near the southern town of Beersheba.  Attendees expected at the groundbreaking include Silvan Shalom, Vice Prime Minister of Israel, along with other members of the government.

“The demand for our products is increasing, and we continue to take steps to ensure that we are ahead of capacity to meet that demand,” stated Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream.  “SodaStream is deeply grateful for the cooperation from the government of the State of Israel.  We look forward to leveraging the outstanding engineering talent here, the free trade agreements with the EU and North America, and to providing thousands of new jobs as our business continues to grow.”

Manitoba shows leadership in environmental sustainability

In the Provence of Manitoba, a new policy bans the use of provincial funds to buy single-use bottled water in plastic containers with less than one litre of water when tap water that is safe for drinking is reasonably accessible. The government wants to show some leadership when it comes to environmental sustainability.  Manitoba is the second Canadian province to enact a water bottle ban, after Nova Scotia. Conservation Minister Bill Blaikie believes that “by taking this step we are leading by example and encouraging Manitobans to move away from using single-use bottled water. This also acknowledges the importance of Manitoba Sustainable Development Procurement Guidelines that clearly states purchases must be based on careful consideration of the good’s impact on the environment.”  The Manitoba Eco-Network supports the move. “The production, transport and recycling of single-use water bottles wastes energy and produces unnecessary carbon emissions,” said network spokesperson Laurel McDonald. SodaStream commends Conservation Minister Bill Blaikie for implementing the new policy that bans the use of provincial funds to buy single-use bottled water in plastic containers.  We would like to meet with Minister Blaikie or a member of his staff to discuss how SodaStream can take new environmental initiatives. We are also considering donating SodaStream carbonation machines to the provincial offices within Manitoba.
